PANTONE’S® top ten men’s colours for fall 2014
October 11, 2014
The PANTONE® name is known worldwide as the standard language for colour communication from designer, to manufacturer, to retailer, to customer. Last week we looked at Pantone’s forecast for the top ten women’s colours this fall. Join us now as we look at what they predict as the most prominent hues for the men’s palette.
Man's boots fall 2014
One of the most interesting things to note about the men’s palette this fall is that it is incredibly close to the women’s palette. We have seen a gradual shift towards a more unisex palette on the catwalks in recent times and this fall sees that shift almost reach its peak. This adventurous use of colour combinations has been driven by a need to explore, whether it be travelling back in time or blazing into the unknown.
Like the women’s colours, we kick off with the reds. Sangria offers invigorating excitement whilst Aurora Red bestows a sophisticated spark to any winter wardrobe. How about pairing the Aurora Red with the tasteful brown of Cognac? This suave combination is guaranteed to give your look a touch of confidence. Cognac is quite versatile and will complement the more vibrant shades in the fall palette. Try mixing it with Misted Yellow to add a sunny outlook to cold weather ensembles.
The fascinating purple of Radiant Orchid is one of the archetypal statement colours this fall. Bold and charismatic and prevalent, along with Bright Cobalt, in everything from sportswear to shoes. Both can be powerfully paired with Sea Fog, the more masculine incarnation of Mauve Mist from the women’s palette
Continuing with the concept of powerful combinations, the elegant and versatile Royal Blue and the bracing Cypress work well with the complex silvery shade of Aluminium. These three colours in particular will play a vital role in men’s fashion this fall.
